Abstract
The Slovak philosophical community commemorates this year the anniversary of the death of the eminent Slovak Marxist philosopher, propagator of the ideas of Marxism-Leninism, organizer of Slovak philosophical and scientific life Ladislav Szántó (1894—1974). The relevant range of questions that Ladislav Szántó analyzed namely in the inter-war period in the magazine DAV, and to which he often returned till the end of his extraordinarily fruitful life, e. g. in connection with the questions of spreading the scientific world outlook, was represented by the questions of pedagogics and psychology. Ladislav Szántó comprehended these questions in close connection with the philosophical theory of personality, with the problems of Marxist-Leninist conception of the relation of individual and society, and with the problems of the Marxist-Leninist theory of man. Szántó’s approach to philosophical problems of personality of man was determined by his effort to understand man as a dialectical unity of socially conditioned qualities and individual (intellectual, volitional and emotional) qualities.
