E. Višňovský’s Book 'Richard Rorty and the Mirror of Philosophy'
Abstract
The intent of the essay is to highlight, in the pioneering Slovak-language monograph on American iconoclastic philosopher Richard Rorty, ideas and observations which might prove seminal in defining a new role to play for philosophy and its practitioners today. With this in mind, the author touches on Rorty´s campaign against post-Kantian philosophy as centered on epistemology, against arrogant construal of philosophy as the „queen of sciences.“ The implicit message is a plea for the “pragmatization“ of philosophy and pursuit of polycentric “post-philosophical culture.“
