Abstract
In the period of the national liberation struggle a tough struggle of ideas was led and reached its top in the Slovak National Insurrection, which brought the definite defeat of the clerical-fashist ideology on the one hand and of the ideology of “Czechoslovakism“ on the other hand. In this period at the same time, namely in the period of the Slovak National Insurrection the ideas of socialism, marxism-leninism, proletarian internationalism, friendship with the Soviet Union and brotherhood with its people were propagated in a mass extent. The his tor cal victory in this sphere was not only the result of tne exposure of the ideas of national chauvinism and clericalization of the Slovak national life by the “Ludáks“, in their connection with the criminal ideology of German nazism, it was not only the natural elemental aversion to the idea of “Czechoslovakism“ raised to a h;gher power by the policy of the Czech bourgeoisie towards Slovakia in the period between the two World Wars. The chief decisive factor was represented by the ideological functioning of the communists, who, in the complicated questions of the fight of ideas, were rightly directed by the leadership of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and the Communist Party of Slovakia.
