Miloš Štefanovič: Modern Slovak Political Thinking before Hlasists
Abstract
The paper examines the fundamental concepts of the political publicist Miloš Štefanovič, which in the 1980ies and 1990ies suggested the transformation of Slovak political thinking as well as abandoning the voluntarily adopted passive attitude. Štefanovič developed a consistent conception of national politics based on self-respon- sible, independent, bottom up political work grounded in patriotic self-criticism. He was also one of the prime movers of the cooperation between nationalities in Hungary as well as a critique of the distorted political culture of the government establishment.
