Abstract
Which are the objective causes of the absolutization of the national (as the ideological systems of the narrowly conceived national interests) in the party and in society? We suppose that they consist first of all in the social structure of the existing and surviving remnants of the bourgeoisie and petty-bourgeoisie. Besides, there are the strong strata of farmers (not the co-operative ones) and along with all these connected prejudices and survivals, as well as the insufficient knowledge of the theory of Marxism-Leninism. In any, case, the tendencies towards reserve, isolation, limitation and, bound with it, the myth of traditions (out-ofdate, waste) come to the fore In he nationalist ideology — according to the particular historical conditions — there may appear various „leftist“ views (petty-bourgeois radicalism) and shauvinist tendencies (Maoism). Also various theories of racism, colonialism and other bourgeois conceptions that are often masked with Marxist phraseology belong here. In connection with this „absolutizing“ of the national it must be mentioned that also in the policy and ideology of the communist parties the applying of autonomy (federation) even in the structure of the party has many a time been demanded. This, of course, is not to say that the existing ethnical structure in a multi-national state is not to acquire the form of the federative state system, as e. g. in the Soviet Union or in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. Such a solution of the national and international question, on condition that the principle of democratic centralism should be preserved, does not contradict either the idea of internationalism or the theory of Marxism-Leninism. This form of socialist patriotism is a certain historical grade of the realization of the idea of internationalism.
