Abstract

The subject of the essay is a metaepistemological reflection of the internal development of naturalistic epistemology. It focuses on the shifts and contrasts between Quine’s original project of naturalization and recent versions of naturalistic approaches in epistemology. Selected assumptions and consequences of naturalistic thinking are identified and a possibility of future relations between empirical and philosophical aspects of epistemology is suggested.
