Humans in the Age of Technology
Abstract
In its firs part the paper outlines several ideas, by which M. Heidegger responded to one of the serious problems of Western civilization, namely the global technological development.On the background of his considerations of this theme the paper examines, whether also contemporary technological information media (television and internet) correspond to this nature of modern technology revealed by Heidegger and to what extent his picture influence our view of the world. In conclusion the paper tries to answer the question, whether new understanding of the humans and searching for their intrinsic nature could help them to come to terms with the given situation and to face the dangers, brought about by this technological view of the world.
