Abstract
The paper deals with the distinction between different aspects of autonomy. Kant’s two kinds of freedom are discussed. Regarding human rights there are interpreters who claim that autonomy and human rights are barely distinguishable and, by contrast, other thinkers who deny any relevance of autonomy for human rights. The author tries to propose a middle ground interpretation.
