Abstrakt

The paper is a contribution to the evaluation of the academician L. Szántó’s participation in the development of Marxist thinking in Slovakia. It has been written at the occasion of his 80,th birthday. The author first of all points at the academician L. Szántó’s attitudes in the key question of the relation of philosophy and science. He investigates and evaluates positively his thesis of necessity of accepting the philosophical and, in a broader sense, the view-of-the-world presupposition of science. The science gets thus a deeper theoretical foundation and bonds with other activities of people in the sphere of culture as well as in the sphere of values.
