Abstrakt

The category of species in biology serves as denomination of biological forms that have many qualities of various order, specifically bound in unity. It is not possible,, though, to understand the species as ones given for ever and rigid. What is closely connected with it is the problem of the inequality of species, which is one of the basic causes of difficulties in the attempts at giving the species a general definition. A species is characterized by general, individual and special signs. Biological species is an objective reality, a qualitatively definite state of living matter and a general form of existence of life. It has a definite biological structure, a specific organization and historically developed integrity of its own. What is essential in the integrity is the presence of such relations among the parts that connect them into the specific organic unity. The number and characteristics of individual criteria of the species has been constantly supplemented with more precision.
