Abstrakt
The work comments on an essay of Doc. Hanzel ’’The revision of the scientific world conception —- the ideologic basis and expedient of social democratism“, in which Doc. Hanzel is critisizing the thesis of the ’’Draft of the history of Slovak philosophy“. Doc. Hanzel is of the opinion that in the history of Slovak philosophy it was a matter of battle between materialism and idealism in the sphere of two camps: the materialistic and idealistic ones, whereas the author of the article claims that in the history of former Slovak philosophy we may only speak of a controversy between materialistic and idealistic views in the sphere of one camp: the idealistic one. The way in which this battle was carried on was that of a replacing of an idealistic system with less materialistic substance and a smaller tendency towards materialism by and idealistic system with greater materialistic contents and a stronger trend to materialism. In the older times there were no economic conditions in Slovakia for the rise of materialism and materialistic views were to he found only within idealistic systems. Due to the of Slovak thinkers with different branches of knowledge, the cultivation of which was stimulated by the needs of the practical life of society, the materialistic views came into being. The author is quoting many examples from the history of Slovak philosophy in the time of Enlightenment. The author does not even agree with the utter unfavourable judgment of the role of the neopositivism which was professed by quite a number of Slovak philosophers during the so-called Slovak state. According to Doc. Hanzel the role of the neopositivism in our country was nothing but reactionary. The author assumes hat it is necessary to distinguish its scientific and social importance. From the scientifical standpoint it meant no contribution as in our country marxism wae then already known, but socially, due to its fight against mysticism, medieval obscurantism and its demand for scientific objectivity it was playing a progressive role against fascism.
