Abstrakt

In the paper the contemporary content characteristics of the philosophical category „Evolution“ are analyzed as well as criteria and concepts by means of which it is delimited. Problems of evolution and revolution, of the lower and the higher in the evolutionary process, of progress and regress the concept of ordering, etc. are discused.

By comparing the philosophical category „Evolution“ with the concepts of evolution in natural sciences the author attempts to point out that the philosophical delimitation of the category „Evolution“ does not mean the contemporary level of cognition in natural sciences.
