Abstract

In the paper the problem of existence of a special logic, inferring in languages with vague propositions, and of its character is examined. Different approaches to a solution of the problem from the modified classical logic as far as the fuzzy logic — are analyzed. The author shows the bases of the considered conceptions of the theory of vagueness, their dependance on the view of the substance of vagueness and on the fact what they stress in the relationship of the language and logic. He underlines that the theory of vagueness must allow for the plurality of several logical systems whose adequacy is determined by pragmatical criteria.

The author holds that there are two basic factors, influencing the choice of an adequate logic. It is partly the role of idealization when using vague propositions of the natural language, partly the approximative character of inference in the deductive processing of the results of the scientific research where the importance of preservation and transmision of systems of empirical data comes out.
