Abstrakt

In the paper written documents from the period of the activity of Byzantine Mission in the territory of our ancestors are analyzed. The author evaluates them as an important legacy of ideas with remarkable philosophical context. He pays attention to the document The Life of Constantine where a philosophical conception of the language as a sign of identification of independence of the national community is outlined. The nation needs, according to Constantine, a new literary language to be able to develop its own national culture, to be able to confirm its independence, the right for existence and equality with other nations.
