Abstrakt

The paper examines various approaches to technology within the philosophy of technology. The author (she) emphasizes that technology can be analysed only with regard to the existence of mankind which, all through its biological and cultural evolution, has been preferring purpose-oriented procedures and the corresponding instruments. Nevertheless, the mechanized and the science-bound technology has extremely changed the man/technology relation which has reached its "imaginary limits" admonishing us of the future uncontrolled technological development. It thus became a challenge for philosophers, who are expected to offer a profound reflection on this traditionally marginal issue.
